- Chiayi was originally called Zhuluo after a settlement of the
Pingpu tribe. In 1704 (the 43rd year of the Qing Emperor
Kangxi), county magistrate Song Yong-qing built wooden
walls around Chiayi City, making it the first city in Taiwan
under the Qing Dynasty to have city walls. Today the walls
are over 300 years old. - According to genre: Historical site
